Eldar vs Covenant- SoBH Battle Report

As I mentioned in a post loooong ago, I've been working up Sci-Fi warbands for use with Song of Blades and Heroes. The system isn't designed with SF in mind, but I love the simplicity of it, so I've adapted in places to create usable armies. Today, the Eldar (Warhmmer 40k) takes on the Covenant (Halo).

The Eldar squad consists of an Exarch, two Striking Scorpions, two Wraithguards, and three Dire Avengers (507 points).

The Covenant Squad is made up of an Arbiter, two Jiralhanae Brutes, two Unggoy Grunts, and four Sangheli Elite (499 points.)

Things quickly got off to a bad start for the Covenant, as poor dice rolling allowed the Eldar to spread out. The Wraithguards took up positions behind the walls, the Autarch and Dire Avengers atop the ruined fortress, and the Striking Scorpions in the wooded area on side of the fortress opposite the low walls.

The Brutes and one Grunt swept around the fortress to engage the Wraithguards.

Meanwhile the Elites and the second Grunt took out the Striking Scorpions but were eventually wiped out in a vicious firefight by the Eldar atop the fortress.

Supported by the Arbiter, the Brutes and Grunt engaged in a bloody battle with the Wraithguard and one Dire Avenger.

When the carnage was over, the Aribter and a single Grunt remained to face off against the Exarch and two Dire Avengers.

.

The Covenant made things interesting, as the Aribter took out the Exarch before falling to the last two Dire Avengers.

The Eldar win with two Dire Avengers standing!

Here are the Eldar and Covenant cards I've created for SoBH. They're a work in progress so comments are welcome!

  1. Lovely looking game - I'm also a big fan of Song of Blades and Heroes and I've used it for all sorts of games - planning on some Inquisitor-type gaming soon! Can I ask what kind of stats you gave the various troops?
